Wilbur Whately by skullberries Wilbur Whately by skullberries
You guessed it. More Lovecraft art. This one is my artistic interpretation of Wilbur Whately of "the Dunwich Horror" ..wasn't sure whether or not to put it in fan art. Oh well. Just a quick ink drawing I did at work yesterday.

He must be carrying a damaged copy of the necronomicon. I say damaged because it was missing the page with the chant his father said was needed to start the end of the world. Fortunantly for US Wilbur failed to get ahold of the complete text.

Derleth said he also had corresponded with a wizard whose body had been sealed in a broken bridge's concrete abutement. Had !

Very cool. That's always what I imagined him looking like...especially now that Jeffrey "Herbert West" Combs has played him.

I am impressed by the accuracy of the artwork. It almost an exact manifestation of lovecraft's intent. Very, very thrilled to see this piece of work.

You were channeling Lovecraft himself when you drew that face, man. The body is a bit freestyle, but the face is SPOT on, inclueding the expression!

I am impressed by this drawing. I have always loved Lovecraft and I recognized the character immediately, but you drew him very differently than I imagined him, and I like that; a fresh approach to an old character helps us think harder about who the character is and what he means. I would also say that your drawing has improved markedly over the last six months or a year. Good work.

Sincerely,

David Willmore

Thank you so much! That is precisely why I chose not to stick this picture in the "fanArt" section because, it's not so much a copy, but an interpretation. :)

Really beautiful linework. I like the cross hatching, gives the piece a 19th century feel.
